UFO Wednesday
Happy Thursday everyone! Yesterday was another UFO Wednesday for me and I’m pretty proud of myself for getting some stitching done as it was also a work day for me. Not normally a big deal, but I started my phased return to work recently and I’m finding it extremely tiring.
I haven’t stitched since last Wednesday, so check out my previous posts to get an idea of my progress.
This week I started a pattern consisting of two Christmas baubles. Kinda cute but again, the metallic thread was a nightmare.
You can’t actually see it in this picture, but there’s green back stitch detail on the bauble. One thing I’ve found with metallic threads, is that certain colours do not wear well when being used, and others keep their vivid shade. So far, I find the colour that holds the best is red. You can see it especially well on the robin, where it’s been dragged through the fabric multiple times and still looks great with no trace of the white-clear thread (I don’t know what it’s called, I just call it backing thread). If you look at my previous photos, you can see that the colour that wears most is green. It’s more noticeable on the dark green, but I can assure you that when you actually look at it, the thread looks more like it’s green and white striped rather than metallic.
I know I’ve come down a bit on metallic thread, but despite the frustrations of working with it, I am enjoying this project and looking forward to seeing what it’s like when I’m done. I’ve also got some ideas for colour variations for the various bauble and wreath patterns using regular floss. I may even make some extra tags using normal floss.
What did you do for UFO Wednesday?
Well done Vicky, your project is looking really good. I especially like the the new bauble. Well done! 🙂
